 La costruzione risale al ‘600. Il mulino veniva usato per molire le castagne ed il grano prodotti nella zona della montagna sfruttando la forza motrice dell’acqua del ruscello che ancora oggi scorre poco distante dall’abitazione.
Il mulino fu costruito insieme al vecchio ponte di legno le cui mura diroccate sono tutt’ora visibili. Anticamente il mulino aveva una notevole importanza perché era costruito accanto all’antica strada che univa il paese di Montelaterone a due conventi (S. Lorenzo dei Frati Cappuccini verso il paese di Arcidosso e S. Processo, ancor oggi visibile poche centinaia di metri più avanti rispetto al Molino, sulla strada che conduce a Castel del Piano). Durante gli anno ’30 il vecchio ponte di legno venne sostituito dall’attuale ponte che si deve percorrere in auto per raggiungere Castel del Piano.
Con il tempo anche il mulino, non più utilizzato, fu abbandonato e, verso la fine del 2006, gli attuali proprietari cominciarono a ristrutturarlo, terminando i lavori nel Marzo del 2007.
L’abitazione è stata ristrutturata rispettando lo stile architettonico del mulino di un tempo. Nel giardino ed all’interno dell’abitazione si trovano ancora le vecchie macine in pietra. Una macina è stata lasciata dove fu usata l’ultima volta; un’altra, invece, è stata utilizzata come base per il camino che già esisteva nel vecchio magazzino. Il magazzino oggi è stato trasformato in sala da pranzo.
Il Molino si trova sotto il livello della strada. Il terreno è a gradoni. Gli ospiti possono lasciare le automobili in alto a pochi metri dall’abitazione. Un piccolo vialetto delimitato da una ringhiera in ferro battuto conduce alla casa. Alla destra del Molino si trova la vecchia cisterna in pietra che, per mezzo di due chiuse, alimentava la macina del mulino.
L’abitazione, in realtà, è costituita da due appartamenti. Il primo, al quale si accede per mezzo di una scala esterna, si compone di un soggiorno con angolo cottura, due camere matrimoniali e due bagni con doccia.
Il secondo appartamento ha l’ingresso a piano terra. Entrando si trova subito il reparto notte (costituito da una camera matrimoniale con all’interno un bagno con doccia, una seconda camera matrimoniale, una cameretta con un letto singolo ed un bagno con doccia nel corridoio). Per mezzo di una scala in ferro battuto si scende nella cucina e nella sala. La scala è stata realizzata salvaguardando il luogo dov’era ubicata l’antica macina.
Dalla cucina si accede ad un disimpegno con bagno ed alla sala dove si trova un camino d’angolo in pietra. Dal salone, per mezzo di una porta-finestra, si può accedere al giardino ed al ruscello che scorre poco distante dall’abitazione.
Il Mulino è veramente un’abitazione particolare dove trascorrere delle ottime vacanze in mezzo alla natura. |
IL MULINO This house dates back to the 17th century. The mill was used to grind the chestnuts and corn produced in the mountainous area by exploiting the driving power of the nearby stream water. The stream still flows today not far away from the house.
The mill was built together with the old wooden bridge whose ruined walls are still visible. In old times the mill was very important because it was next to the old road that connected the village of Montelaterone to two monasteries (S. Lorenzo dei Frati Cappuccini near Arcidosso and S. Processo, which is still visible today a few hundred metres from the mill along the road that takes to Castel del Piano). During the 30’s, the old wooden bridge was replaced with the present bridge over which you have to drive if you want to get to Castel del Piano. In the course of time, the mill stopped to be used and was abandoned. Towards the end of 2006, the present owners started to refurbish it. The mill was completely restored in March 2007.
The refurbishing respected the architectonic style of the old mill of course. You can still find, inside the house and in the garden, the old stone grinding wheels. One of them was left were it was used for the last time, the other, instead, was used as the base of the fireplace which was once in the warehouse. The warehouse is now the living room!
“Il Mulino” is below the road level. The land is terraced. Guests can leave their cars a few metres from the house. A narrow path with wrought iron banisters leads to the house. To the right of “Il Mulino” there is the old stone well which, with its two locks, fed the mill wheel with water.
The house has got two flats. One flat is on the first floor and can be reached by walking up an external staircase. It has got a living room with a cooking area, two double bedrooms and two bathrooms with a shower.
The other flat is on the ground floor. The entrance door opens into the night area ( a double bedroom with a bathroom inside, a single room and a bathroom with a shower in the corridor). By walking down a wrought iron staircase you get to the kitchen and the living room. The staircase was built in the area where there was the old wheel once. From the kitchen you get to an access area, where there is a bathroom, and to the living room, where there is a stone corner fireplace. A French door in the living room opens into the garden with the stream that flows not far away.“Il Mulino” is a very special place where you can spend a beautiful holiday surrounded by nature. |
 IL MULINO Das Bauwerk geht auf das 17. Jahrhundert zurück. Die Mühle wurde verwendet, um Kastanien und Weizen aus dem Berggebiet zu mahlen. Als Antriebskraft wurde das Wasser des Baches genutzt, der noch heute wenig entfernt vom Haus fließt. Die Mühle wurde gleichzeitig mit der alten Holzbrücke gebaut, deren verfallene Mauern noch heute zu sehen sind.
Damals war diese Mühle sehr wichtig, da sie neben der alten Straße lag, die das Dorf Montelaterone und die beiden Klöster S. Lorenzo, der Kapuziner in Richtung Arcidosso, und S. Processo verband. S. Processo ist noch heute wenige hundert Meter von der Mühle entfernt, an der Straße die nach Castel del Piano führt, zu sehen.
In den 30er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts wurde die alte Holzbrücke durch die heutige ersetzt, die man überqueren muss, um nach Castel del Piano zu kommen.
Mit der Zeit wurde auch die Mühle nicht mehr verwendet, sie wurde verlassen und Ende des Jahres 2006 haben die heutigen Besitzer mit der Renovierung angefangen und sie in März 2007 abgeschlossen.
Bei der Renovierung hat man sich an den architektonischen Stil der alten Mühlen gehalten. Im Garten sowie im Haus findet man noch die alten Mühlsteine. Ein Mühlstein liegt auf dem Platz, wo er zuletzt benutzt worden ist; ein anderer stattdessen wurde als Basis für den schon im alten Lager existierenden Kamin verwendet. Das Lager ist der heutige Speisesaal.
Die Mühle befindet sich unterhalb des Straßeniveaus. Das Grundstück ist in großen Stufen angelegt. Die Gäste können das Auto oberhalb wenige Meter vom Haus entfernt parken. Ein schmaler Weg, von einem Schmiedeisengeländer begrenzt, führt zum Haus. Rechts der Mühle befindet sich die alte Zisterne, die über zwei Schleusen die Mühle mit Wasser versorgte.
Das Haus besteht eigentlich aus zwei Wohnungen. Die erste, die man über eine Außentreppe erreicht, verfügt über ein Wohnzimmer mit Kochecke, zwei Schlafzimmer und zwei Bäder mit Dusche. Die zweite hat den Eingang im Erdgeschoß. Beim Eintreten kommt man sofort in den Schlafbereich (ein Doppelzimmer mit Bad mit Dusche, ein zweites Doppelzimmer, ein Einzelbettzimmer und ein Bad mit Dusche im Flur). Über eine schmiedeeiserne Treppe kommt am zur Küche und zum Wohnzimmer. Beim Bau der Treppe hat man den Platz bewahren wollen, wo der alte Mühlstein lag. Aus der Küche gelangt man zu einem Durchgangsraum mit Bad und zu dem Wohnzimmer mit einem Eckkamin. Von Wohnzimmer aus durch ein Terrassenfenster kommt man zum Garten und zum Bach, der nah am Haus vorbeifließt.
Die Mühle ist ein besonderes Quartier, wo man einen sehr schönen Urlaub Mitten in der Natur verbringen kann.
